Do you think that Ripple's expected upcoming announcement (before 2018) confirming that they have locked up 55Billion XRP into an Escrow will affect price?

are you talking about more locked up XRP?
sounds like old news to me and should be priced in.
apparently the btc futures news was the starting point of "cryptocurrencies are some how legal and here to stay!"
also delays on exchanges for btc transactions might have spiked the use of XRP to move funds around, being a inicial point for the rise until XRP jumps into the horizon of traders who might take it from there.
