On October 16, 2024, ACHC shareholders have filed a class action against Acadia Healthcare, accusing it of detaining patients without medical necessity and deceiving insurance providers.

What is this lawsuit about?

On September 1, 2024, the New York Times revealed that Acadia detained patients without medical need and billed insurers for unnecessary treatments. Following this, ACHC dropped by 4.5%.

Then, on September 27, 2024, Acadia disclosed receiving subpoenas from the U.S. Attorney’s Office and other agencies regarding its admissions and billing practices, causing the stock to fall another 16.36%.
