NEXT Biometrics supports Evolute's Aadhaar L1 Certification for Indian market expansion

Evolute, a leading manufacturer of Point-of-Sale (POS) devices for the bankingand finance industry, has achieved Aadhaar L1 Certification, supported by NEXTBiometrics, a world leader in advanced, high-security fingerprint sensortechnology.

The certification enables Evolute to connect its devices into Aadhaar, theworld's largest biometric identification system, with over 1.4 billionresidentscurrently enrolled. It provides a single, verifiable digital ID to citizens inIndia, enabling access to benefits including government welfare, subsidies andmore. L1 certification is mandatory for all manufacturers using the system, toensure high levels of accuracy, performance and security when identifying andauthenticating users.

NEXT supported Evolute in successfully completing the rigorous certificationprocess, demonstrating exceptional in-field performance and security.Followingcertification, Evolute is well positioned to expand further into India'smarketfor digital identity and financial inclusion. NEXT estimates that this marketisset for rapid growth, with roughly 4.5 million L0 certified devices needing tobe replaced by L1 certified devices in the coming years. This news marks thenext stage in a NOK 14 - 28 million multi-year commercial partnership forNEXT'sFAP 20 sensors that commenced in 2023.

By supporting Evolute, NEXT becomes the only fingerprint sensor provider tohavesupported two Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) through the L1Certification process using its Active Thermal® FAP 20 'Basalt' fingerprintsensor. NEXT's Active Thermal technology uses heat from the finger and 3Dimaging to authenticate the user. This enables superior liveness detection tocombat spoofing attacks, when compared with other fingerprint authenticationtechnologies.
