Setting-Less Trend-Step FilteringIntroduction
Indicators settings have been a major concern in trading strategies, in order to provide the best results each indicators involved in the strategy must have its settings optimized, when using only 1 indicator this task can easily be achieved, but an increasing number of indicators involve more slower computations, lot of softwares will use brute force for indicators settings optimization, this involve testing each indicator settings and see which setting/combination maximize the equity, in order to fasten this process softwares can use a user defined range for the indicator settings. Nonetheless the combination that maximize the equity at time t might be different at time t+1...n .
Therefore i propose an indicator without any numerical setting that aim to filter small price variations using the architecture of the T-step lsma, such indicator can provide robust filtering and can therefore be used as input for other indicators.
Robustness Vs Non Robustness
Robustness is often defined as the ability of certain statistical tools to be less affected by outliers, outliers are defined as huge variations in a data-set, high volatility movements and large gaps might be considered as outliers. However here we define robustness as the ability of an indicator to be non affected by price variations that are not correlated with the main trend, which can be defined in technical analysis as pullbacks.
Some small pullbacks in INTEL, the indicator is not affected by them, which allow the indicator to filter the price in a "smart" way.
This effect is made possible by using exponential averaging in the indicator, exponential averaging is defined as y = sc*x + (1-sc)*y , with 1 > sc > 0 . Here sc is calculated in a similar way as the kalman gain, which is in the form of a/(a + b) , in our case this is done with :
sc = abs(input - nz(b ))/(abs(input - nz(b )) + nz(a ))
Non Robust Version Of The Indicator
The user is allowed to use the non robust version of the indicator by unchecking "robust" in the setting panel, this allow a better fit with the price at the cost of less filtering.
robust checked
robust unchecked
Conclusion
I proposed a technical indicator that aim to filter short frequencies without the use of parameters, the indicator proven to be robust to various pullbacks and therefore was able to follow the main trend, although using the term trend for such small price variations might be wrong. Removing high frequencies is always beneficial in trading, noisy series are harder to manipulate, this is why you'll see a lot of indicators using median price often defined as hl2 instead of the closing price.
Like previous settings-less indicators i published this one can behave differently depending on the time frame selected by the user, lower time frames will make the indicator filter more. I'll try to make more setting-less indicators that will correct this effect.

Bulls vs BearsA tool with the purpose for better insight of bulls/bears influence.
The center, more bright part are the open-close prices, filled green if bullish, red if bearish.
The transparent red and green part, above and below, are the "wick/shadow" area's.
If for example the bears push the price down, far under the open, but the bulls push it right back, so you'll have a large wick,
this will be visible as a large transparent green area below the brighter open-close center area.
Hope this helps!
MTF IQ IFM Moving AverageMTF ready adaptive MA using Ehler's IQ IFM ( In Phase - Quadrature Instantaneous Frequency Measurement ).
Ehler's formula is a method of quantitatively measuring the length of a market cycle. In this case it is used to calculate the "optimal" adaptive EMA.
Theoretically the length generated by Ehler's formula could be used in many indicators and it's been placed within it's own function so you should be able to simply copy/paste it. HOWEVER pine will not accept series variables for the length input used in built-in functions. You will have to manually code (or find) a version of your indicator that doesn't use the pine built in.
Options :
type : optionally add volume weighting
range : historical range used in IQ IFM
cycle length mult : method to create faster/slower MAs. eg 0.5 is half the length of a cycle and a faster EMA ie EMA10 vs EMA20
low sat fix : some cryptocurrencies with low satoshi values cause an issue with the calculation, if you get no/nonsensical lines, enable this. Shouldn't affect other instruments, but can be disabled just in case.
MTF options: run the calculation on an alternative timeframe

CCI Stochastic and a quick lesson on Scalping & Trading SystemsHello traders
Still on holidays but I don't and will never forget you <3
I realize more and more that you guys don't only want some indicators and learn about pinescript. You also want some guidance and get some mentors providing you with comprehensive and simple trading methods and tricks.
I'm against those posting many scripts a day that in the end will make you lose your money because they don't give you the methodology to use them
It might look nice on the charts but we're not here to do some painting.... but to improve our lifestyle right :)
The today indicator is based on an indicator that I used for scalping : Fxcodebase CCI Stochastic
A CCI stochastic is very reactive and allows us to take many scalps trades per day with a few pips/USD gain for each trade. I don't recommend novice traders to use it and I strongly recommend everyone reading my disclaimer below basically saying "I'm not a financial advisor, don't be dumb, stay safe"
(I also recommend the few scripts copy-pasters to read my disclaimer as well)
What's a novice trader, sir? Well... thanks for asking. A novice trader is any trader with less than 5 years of live trading experience
From a pinescript perspective, this script will be however interesting for everyone :)
How to use it?
The indicator gives 3 possible entries for Longs and Shorts:
- Arrows at Enter - Will give signals whenever the Stoch CCI will enter in the BUY/SELL zone
- Arrows at Exit - Will give signals whenever the Stoch CCI will exit the BUY/SELL zone
- Arrows at Center - Signals whenever the Stoch CCI will cross the mid-line (50)
All arrows have different colors because ... painting is cool and nice.... kidding.... it gives clearer and more readable signals on the chart (but painting sir...)
A possible trading method could be to use the 3 modes at the same time to get the maximum of opportunities.
The safer bet is to use the "Arrows at Exit" only mode but for those who want to accumulate more scalping positions, adding the "Arrows at Enter" mode is an option as well. In other words, you accumulate a few scalping positions whenever the Stoch CCI get in the BUY/SELL zone and will stop accumulating whenever it will exit the BUY/SELL zone
You can add a few extra positions whenever the Stoch CCI will cross the mid-line as it often translates in a trend continuation
Life hack
Very important note : (probably the most important gem I shared until now) The inputs set by default will have to be changed for your asset/timeframe and can't be generic for everything. You have to play with the inputs until the signals will make sense to you
The indicator/strategy with a unique configuration that you'll never check or update according to the market condition DOES NOT exit.
If you find such a tool and prove me that you're making constant gains with it over a year, please patent it and then show it to me as I'd like to study it to replicate :) But most likely this is a myth/unicorn
Who I am to say this? Well, I worked in a Bank with real traders and I have a good sense of what works and what will certainly not work
My guru said scalping crypto in 1 second timeframe was the way to get rich quick. Do you agree sir?
But in trading, this is not because you take the maximum of trades possible that your gains will increase. This is the contrary.
There is a strong and proven inverse correlation between the number of trades taken and how fast you'll burn your capital. A swing trader taking 2/3 trades a month is more likely to beat 99% of the scalpers out there trying to predict all market movements. (and I'm not even talking about how dangerous it is to scalp with leverage)
You're starting to know me a bit more right now. I prefer to tell you what you need to hear vs what you want to hear because the second option doesn't allow to stay in the game very long.
I might lose some futures clients along the way by saying that but for my own conscience and ethics, I prefer to warn about the true risks of trading and to select who you listen very carefully (the advice also works for me, if you feel what I said doesn't make sense, this is totally your right but I hope this is because I'm french and not because of the content ^^).
See you tomorrow for another indicator or idea
Love you all
Dave

Breakout Reversal Entry on WMA - NG1! Overnight ver 1This script is for learning purposes only
This strategy will plot arrows when price breaks so far above/below WMA. The strategy will enter when the price breaks away from WMA. All entries are reversals. Users can set WMA length and source; also the distance of the price away from WMA to enter. Adjustable bracket orders are placed for exit, with trailing stop or market stop choice. Last, users can set the time of day they want to enter a trade.
My Preference: I am testing this strategy on NG1! over night on 1 minute candle. with .003 on price drop/climb, I get entries almost every night. Also 10 tick stop and 5 tick profit seems backward to most, but with a high win/loss ratio, it performs quite well. Trailing stops generally help out as well.
INPUTS:
Length - The is the WMA length
Source - WMA source (High, Low, Open, Close...)
When Price Drops - This is the distance in ticks when the price drops away from WMA, an arrow is plotted, and reversal entry order is placed
When Price Climbs - Same as price drop, just in the opposite direction
Trailing Stop check box - Check if you want to place a trailing stop so many tick away from entry. Unchecked is Market (hard) stop so many ticks from entry.
Stop - Number of ticks away from entry a the stop or trailing stop is set (for NG 1 tick = $0.001)
Limit Out - Number of ticks away from entry a limit order is placed to take profits
Limit Time of day check box - check to use the time of day to limit what time of day order entry will occur.
Start/Stop Trades (Est Time) - First box is when the strategy will be allowed to start buying and stop is when the strategy will stop being allowed to buy. Sell orders continue until a stop or limit triggers an exit. These times are Eastern time zone
PROPERTIES:
Pyramiding - This feature will allow multiple entries to occur. If set to 1, the strategy should only trade 1 contract at a time. If set to 2, the strategy will enter a second order if entry requirements are met. This allows you to be holding 2 contracts. Basically on a good day, it will multiply your earnings, on a bad day, you'll just lose more. For testing, I keep this on 1.
TIPS:
- If you want to go long only, set "When Price Climbs" to an impossible number, like 10,000. It's not possible for NG to move $10 is a matter of minutes so it will not enter the market with a short order. Also keep in mind you can set different requirements for going long vs going short. If you think there is more pull on the market in a particular direction.
BSTtrend (and a quick note on trading psychology)Hi again :)
Script #2 for tonight, more to come :)
This one is a Pine transcription of a FXCM/LUA script called BSTrend
I used it years ago to trade index on very low timeframes with it. I'm always looking for oscillators that are more reactive than the traditional MACD. And even more reactive than the MACD Zero Lag
This is a proof of concept that Pinescript is my favorite trading programming language vs MT4/LUA/PRT. I just find it easier and the Pinescript community is helping a lot
With the BSTrend you can win but also lose. I see a lot of scripts out there but there is not a better or worst indicator. The key is HOW to use it.
In other words the key is your PSYCHOLOGY, without a rock-solid psychology, you'll end up committing a mistake even with G. himself whispering "BUY NOW", "SELL NOW" to your ears. (wait..... Do you mean this is happening only to me ????)
However, indicators help immensely in reducing the psychology pressure that we have to endure ... sometimes for days..... But better not to overcharge with dozens of indicators per chart and have a tool to detect whenever there is a confluence/convergence of your favorite indicators :) #algorithm #builder
I'll publish an educational post about next week
Those are the exact words that my mentor traders told me 6 years ago when I started trading

Dollar Cost Average (Data Window Edition)Hi everyone
Hope you had a nice weekend and you're all excited for the week to come. At least I am (thanks to a few coffee but that still counts !!!)
This indicator is inspired from Dollar-Cost-Average-Cost-Basis
EDUCATIONAL POST
The educational post is coming a bit later this afternoon explaining how to use the indicator so I would advise to follow me so that you'll get updated in real-time :) (shameless self-advertising)
1 - What is Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA)?
Dollar-Cost Averaging is a strategy that allows an investor to buy the same dollar amount of an investment on regular intervals. The purchases occur regardless of the asset's price.
I hope you're hungry because that one is a biggie and gave me a few headaches. Happy that it's getting out of my way finally and I can offer it
This indicator will analyse for the defined date range, how a dollar cost average (DCA) method would have performed vs investing all the hard earnt money at the beginning
2- What's on the menu today ?
Please check this screenshot to understand what you're supposed to see : CLICK ME I'M A SCREENSHOT (I'll repeat this URL one more time below as I noticed some don't read the information on my description and then will come pinging me saying "sir me no understand your indicator, itz buggy sir"
(yes I finally thought about a way to share screenshots on TradingView, took me 4 weeks, I'm slow to understand things apparently)
My indicator works with all asset classes and with the daily/weekly/monthly timeframes
As always, let's review quickly the different fields so that you'll understand how to use it (and I won't get spammed with questions in DM ^^)
- Use current resolution : if checked will use the resolution of the chart
- Timeframe used for DCA : different timeframe to be used if Use current resolution is unchecked
- Amount invested in your local currency : The amount in Fiat money that will be invested at each period selected above
- Starting Date
- Ending Date
- Select a candle level for the desired timeframe : If you want to use the open or close of the selected period above. Might make a diffence when the timeframe is weekly or monthly
3 - Specifications used
I got the idea from this website dcabtc.com and the result shown by this website and my indicator are very interesting in general and for your own trading
The formula used for the DCA calculation is that one : Investopedia Dollar Cost Average
4 - How to interpret the results
"But sir which results ??"...... those ones : CLICK ME I'M A SCREENSHOT :) (strike #2 with the screenshot)
It will draw all the plots and will give you some nice data to analyze in the Data Window section of TradingView
I'm not completely satisfied with the tool yet but the results are very closed to the dcabtc website mentioned above
If you're trading a very bullish asset class (who said crypto ?), it's very interesting to see what a DCA strategy could bring in term of performance. But DCA is not magic, there is a time component which is the day/week/month you'll start to invest (those who invested in crypto beginning of 2018 in altcoins know what I'm talking about and ..............will hate me for this joke)
5 - What's next ?
As said, the educational post is coming next but not only.
Will probably post a strategy tomorrow using this indicator so that you can compare what's performing best between your trading and a dollar cost average method
I'll publish as a protected source this time a more advanced version of that one including DCA forecasts
6 - Suggested alternative (but I'll you doing it)
If you don't want to have this panel in the bottom with the plots and analyze the results in the data window, you can always create an infopanel like shown here Risk-Reward-InfoPanel/ and display all the data there
Hope you'll like it, like me, love it, love me, tip me :)

Consensio Vision MA - Tribute to Late Dean Tyler JenksA wonderful mentor, fearless leader and incredibly humble man, father alike and world renowned bitcoin influencer also known for the invention of robust money management system named consensio moving averages, Tribute to Late Dean Tyler Jenks who made this possible.
Explanation
this indicator make use of three simple moving averages, idea is to incrementally invest little by little in the bull market when all moving average is moving up
A more in-depth guide for consensio is available here
How to use this indicator?
This indicator plots weekly moving average on daily and/or hourly time frame, the basic idea is to see how smaller time frame like daily and hourly trend reacts to larger time frame like weekly moving averages and what are the possible support and resistance area on these smaller time frame and also to arrive at better entry points while doing that.
The name Consensio Vision is chosen cuz.. it's a free reminder to never loose long-term vision (in this case weekly trend) of where you're going
Consensio Vision MA - Tribute to Late Dean Tyler Jenks
Lucid's Principles Of Investing - These are principles foretold by Late dean tyler jenks.. he goes on to saying that those 12 principles will keep you out of trouble or will identify trouble or will identify your human behavioral problems
1. CASH IS KING - in terms of my investing principles is very simple cash is king, I would rather be in cash than any other asset class, unless an asset class is trending to the upside (or bull market) the cash is king
2. Market doesn't move in straight line - all asset classes trimmed up and down, as tyler goes on to say he dont believe in buy and hold strategy, i'm giving you the tools to get you out of market so you dont have drive down bear events like 2009 crash, he further suggests you sould react (or make decision) before a 10% drop in market.
3. Timeframe - trends are short days or weeks intermediate weeks or months and long months or years so principle number three is don't just talk about something is in a trend be precise are you talking about a short-term trend an intermediate term trend or a long-term trend...
just saying something is in a trend is irresponsible, you've got to identify your time frame
4. Wait! Bear market is different - cash is king and unless asset class is trending up there are times that you want to take advantage of a trend that is down but it is not the equivalent of investing in a trend that is up it is far more dangerous far more difficult it can be done but that's not one of the main principles, (also check rule number 7 as both are related)
5. Only long-term trends are investments - word trading is not really an investment term trading means buying or selling it has nothing to do with what you're attempting to achieve in terms of either speculation gambling investing ... those are not opportunities for investing because they're short or they're intermediate.. that doesn't mean that you can't speculate and have that turn into a position trade and have it turn into a possible swing trade and then have it turn in to an investment however be prepared once you've made an investment where that investment in a short or an intermediate term time frame to move against you
6. Never invest in a FOMO (fear of missing out)- loss of money loss of cash loss of wealth is not equivalent to a loss of opportunity
it is 100 times more important than a loss of opportunity
7. understand the importance of Percentage - a 50% gain is not an inverse equivalence of a 50% loss that is the single most important rule or principle that Lucid uses in determining when to get into or out of an investment and it goes back to number six that a loss of money is not equivalent to a loss of opportunity
8. all long-term trends are fundamentally based, repeat all long-term trends are fundamentally based
9. number nine is a corollary but it's separate all short and intermediate term trends are not fundamentally based, long term trends are not affected by news are not affected by headlines are not affected by company announcements or country announcements they are affected in the short in the intermediate term and therefore your probability of success goes way up as your timeframe frame goes longer
10. Fundamental vs technical - technical tools are invaluable in identifying trends fundamental tools are not invaluable in identifying trends - that's why technical analysis is so important it gives you something that fundamental analysis will never give you in time so technical a pro active mechanism or money management tool and fundamental is a lagging indicator hoever its what drives the market in log term
11. Profitability based on time aka VISION- I see even very sophisticated investors doing is they let the technical tools give them a signal on the short-termer intermediate-term and they believe because it's the tool that they're using that it's giving them an equivalent probability of success and it is not!
it's probability of success at the short-term is less than at the intermediate term and is less than at the long-term
12. the last one long-term trends are more important than intermediate which are more important than short term, tyler developed a scale where he ranks
long-term trend 5,
intermediate term trend 3,
short-term with a 1
(note: if you add both 3 & 1 its still smaller then 5)
if you add together my intermediate term weighting of 3 and the short term weighting of 1 that you do not equal the long term weighting of 5 that means that both the short and the intermediate term can be going in a direction but that does not negate the direction of the long term trend it's a simple way of looking at it and I use the word in number 12 important not simply to mean importance in terms of the weighting system but the probability of success of each of those 3
so if you're using a short term 15 minute 30 minute one hour signals or probability of success drops dramatically and therefore you've got to factor in where your stops are relative to that probability when you're in a long term trend a five waiting you don't need to use stops when you're in an intermediate term trend you've got to use stops and when you're in a short term trend you've got to use closed stops

Currency Correlation indicator for the major currenciesThis Pine script creates a currency correlation graph with 6 correlations in a separate window below the main chart.
The indicator supports the following 8 currencies: AUD, CAD, CHF, EUR, GBP, JPY, NZD, USD
Correlations can be selected to be either related to the base or the counter currency (default is base). The length of the correlation can be chosen (default is 10).
Correlations are given for related currencies e.g. for all AUD pairs.
If Base currency is selected and e.g. AUDCAD is displayed in the main window, then the correlation window will compare AUDCAD to: AUDCHF, AUDEUR, AUDGBP, AUDJPY, AUDNZD, AUDUSD
If Counter currency is seleted and e.g. AUDCAD is displayed in the main window, then the correlation window will compare AUDCAD to: CHFCAD, EURCAD, GBPCAD, JPYCAD, NZDCAD, USDCAD
Many of the above currency pairs are not real pairs. But they are availabe in Pine script to enable e.g. correlation calculations.
The advantage is that e.g. the comparison between AUDCAD and EURAUD will give a positive correlation, if AUD is gaining in strenght and EUR and CAD are not changing in strenght.
Eventhough price is moving in the opposite direction the correlation is positive in the AUDCAD vs EURAUD example.
