⁉️ WHAT IS A FRACTALS?
In trading, a fractal is a technical analysis pattern composed of five consecutive candles, typically highlighting local market turning points. Specifically, a fractal high is formed when a candle’s high is higher than the highs of the two candles on either side, whereas a fractal low occurs when a candle’s low is lower than the lows of the two adjacent candles on both sides.
Traders use fractals as reference points for identifying significant support and resistance levels, potential reversal areas, and liquidity zones within price action analysis. Below is a screenshot illustrating clearly formed fractals on the chart.
📌 ABOUT THE CONCEPT
The 1H/3m Concept involves marking Higher Timeframe (HTF) fractals directly onto a Lower Timeframe (LTF) chart. When a liquidity sweep occurs at an HTF fractal level, we remain on the same LTF chart (since all HTF fractals are already plotted on this lower timeframe) and wait for a clear Market Structure Shift (MSS) to identify our potential entry point.
Below is a schematic illustration clearly demonstrating how this concept works in practice.
Below is another 💡 real-chart example , showing liquidity in the form of a 1H fractal, swept by a rapid impulse move. Immediately afterward, a clear Market Structure Shift (MSS) occurs, signaling a potential entry point into the trade.
Another example is shown below, where we see our hourly fractal, from which price clearly reacts, providing an opportunity to search for an entry point.
As illustrated on the chart, the fractal levels from the higher timeframe are clearly displayed, but we’re working directly on the 5-minute chart. This allows us to remain on one timeframe without needing to switch back and forth between charts to spot such trading setups.
🔍 MTF FRACTALS
This concept can be applied across various HTF-LTF timeframe combinations. Although our examples illustrate 1H fractals used on a 5-minute chart, you can effectively utilize many other timeframe combinations, such as:
30m HTF fractals on 1m chart
1H HTF fractals on 3m chart
4H HTF fractals on 15m chart
1D HTF fractals on 1H chart
The key idea behind this concept is always the same: identify liquidity at fractal levels on the higher timeframe (HTF), then wait for a clear Market Structure Shift (MSS) on the lower timeframe (LTF) to enter trades.
⚙️ SETTINGS
🔷 Trade Direction – Select the preferred trading direction (Long, Short, or Both).
🔷 HTF – Choose the higher timeframe from which fractals will be displayed on the current chart.
🔷 HTF Period – Number of candles required on both sides of a fractal candle (before and after) to confirm fractal formation on the HTF.
🔷 Current TF Period – Sensitivity to the impulse that sweeps liquidity, used for identifying and forming the MSS line.
🔷 Show HTF – Enable or disable displaying HTF fractal lines on your chart. You can also customize line style and color.
🔷 Max Age (Bars) – Number of recent bars within which fractals from the selected HTF will be displayed.
🔷 Show Entry – Enable or disable displaying the MSS line on the chart.
🔷 Enable Alert – Activates TradingView alerts whenever the MSS line is crossed.
You can also enable 🔔 alerts, which notify you whenever price crosses the MSS line. This significantly simplifies the process of identifying these setups on your charts. Simply configure your preferred timeframes and wait for notifications when the MSS line is crossed.

Williams Fractal Trailing StopsUnlike the built-in version, you can configure how many bars it takes to confirm a fractal. This indicator plots all Williams high and low fractals, and a stop line that trails the fractals up and down. Includes long and short stop alerts. You can choose whether the trail flips long-short based on the price being exceeded within a candle or on candle close. This indicator deals only with fractals and doesn't get into the Alligator or anything else.

OS FractalsAn up fractal is formed when a high is both preceded and followed by lower highs. A down fractal is formed when a low is both preceded and followed by higher lows.
Bill Williams uses a period of 2 (2 after and 2 before) to define a fractal. This indicator has 2 as default but lets you decide the range you want.
The indicator lets you also select alerts when price crosses an up of down fractal, which would usually mean to entry a position. This indicator works best when used with an alligator, as long signals are valid above the Balance Line and short signals are valid when triggered below the Balance Line.
Any comments for improvement are welcome.
Hotch v1.02 RSI+Fractals/VWAP Bands/Smoothed Moving Average. In this script the RSI is used the limit number of displayed fractals to only those fractals that are triggered in the RSI Overbought and Oversold areas. This helps keep the chart cleaner looking when combined with other indicators so other icons that are plotted above and below candles are not covered up.
For example if the RSI drops below 30 the next fractal would be displayed.
If the RSI stays below 30 each fractal would be displayed.
If the RSI dips below 30 and returns above 30 before there is a fractal is displayed, the next valid fractal would still be displayed.
With optimization of the RSI values this indicator can be used in confluence with the included VWAP bands and Moving average to find trend reversal entry points for trades. Also recommended is to use a divergence identifying lower indicator as a secondary confirmation of trade entry.

2) Price was recently outside of your chosen VWAP multiple.

NOTE: Fractals normally paint two bars behind the current bar. In this code, with the combination of the RSI and Fractal Trigger, the fractal paints an icon on the current bar.

BTC Fractal Momentum Extremes (BTCFME) is a multi-factor, multi-method technical indicator designed to detect potential top and bottom reversal points in Bitcoin price action by integrating a confluence of unconventional signals. It combines fractals, adaptive momentum, volume dynamics, price velocity convergence, and market structure shifts — all filtered through real-time volatility and contextualized by temporal market conditions.
This tool is best used by traders looking to spot high-confidence turning points on intraday or swing timeframes, and works particularly well in volatile, momentum-driven environments.
Key Components & Methodology
BTCFME utilizes five independent signal-generation methods:
1. Fractal Volume Divergence
Detects reversal fractals in price (5-bar patterns) and validates them with volume anomalies:
Volume spikes (e.g., climax moves) or
Volume exhaustion (e.g., waning participation)
2. Adaptive Momentum Oscillator
Calculates momentum normalized by ATR-adjusted volatility, filtering out noise in choppy markets. It spots directional shifts when momentum inflects from extreme levels.
3. Market Structure Breaks
Identifies dynamic support and resistance using a configurable lookback, and flags potential breakouts or breakdowns from those levels.
4. Price Velocity Convergence
Analyzes the rate of change (velocity) and its acceleration. When both compress within a narrow volatility range, it signals a potential inflection zone.
5. Temporal Confluence Filter
Signals are only considered valid during active market hours (9 AM – 4 PM, excluding weekends) to reduce false positives during illiquid or inefficient trading periods.
Signal Logic & Sensitivity
Signals are generated when at least 3 out of 4 core methods agree, controlled by the Signal Sensitivity setting:
1 (High Sensitivity) = Trigger signals with fewer confirmations
5 (Low Sensitivity) = Require stronger multi-factor confluence

You can set alerts using the built-in conditions:
BTC Bottom Alert → Fires on potential market bottoms.
BTC Top Alert → Fires on potential market tops.
These alerts are filtered to avoid whipsaw conditions, by checking that opposite signals did not trigger in the last 2 candles.
How to Use
Timeframes: Best suited for 1H–4H and Daily BTC charts, but adaptable to others with parameter tuning.
Confirm with Price Action: Use BTCFME signals in conjunction with candlestick patterns or S/R zones for best results.
Adjust Sensitivity: Lower values catch more signals (good for scalping), higher values filter for stronger reversals (ideal for swing trades).
Use in Trending or Reversing Markets: BTCFME performs best during trending environments or volatile reversals — avoid during prolonged flat/ranging zones.
Notes & Recommendations
BTCFME is not a standalone buy/sell signal; combine it with risk management and trend confirmation tools.
Avoid using it during extremely low-volume sessions (e.g., late weekends).
Adjust parameters based on BTC's evolving volatility and your trading style.
Buy / Sell Fractal Algorithm with SL Line GenerationThis algorithm is designed for usage across indices.
How it works?
The algorithm uses a variation of fractals, momentum, RSI and LRSI to determine a trends direction.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is a momentum-based oscillator used to measure the speed (velocity) and change (magnitude) of directional price movements. It provides a visual means to monitor both the current and historical strength and weakness of a particular market. The strength or weakness is based on closing prices over the duration of a specified trading period, creating a reliable metric of price and momentum changes
Momentum in trading refers to the direction and magnitude of price. Momentum plays a key role in assessing trend strength, and it is important to know when a trend is slowing down. Less momentum does not always lead to a reversal, but it does signal that something is changing, and the trend may consolidate or reverse
Fractals are patterns within price changes which are repeated across thousands of bars. Examples of fractals include the golden ratio, PHI and the spirals of the milk way. They are quite literally a universal concept.
Basics of usage:
When a bullish trend is detected; the algorithm will generate a green "SL Line" at a calculated point, which can be interpreted as an invalidation line.
If the price goes below this line, the bullish trend is invalidated. So long as it holds, the bullish trend is true until the next detection change.
When a bearish trend is detected; the algorithm will generate a red "SL Line", at a calculated point, which can be interpreted as an invalidation line.
If the prices goes above this line, the bearish trend is invalidated. So long as it holds, the bearish trend is true until the next detection change.
When a given trend is invalidated, the SL Line turns yellow and you enter a "pause zone", where neither a bearish nor bullish trend is calculated.
This resets itself on the next trend detection.
Additional information:
I have coded my own backtest to this algorithm, along with plotting the profit / loss of each generated trade.
The profit is calculated by the difference between the open bar of the trade after a long ( or short ) and the following trade.
If we are calculating a short, the resulting value is then multiplied by -1 to get a positive integer.
For calculating a loss we take the value of the open bar of the trade that generates a long, and take the difference between this and the SL line, and similarly for short positions. The code assumes the user is placing their SL at the indicated line.
Within the input settings there are a few customisation options:
Alpha & Fractal Energy Length & Source - Should not be changed.
Highly bands crossover? - Has no visible effect whether on or off. It refers to the fractal chart which in this iteration is not visible and rather a backend mechanic.
Apply fractal energy? - Should generally be left turned on. This is a noise reduction. Disabling will result in over-trading.
Apply normalization? - Has no impact, is solely used to make the fractal values more human-readable rather than decimal format.
Offset - refers to the offset value of the SL Line generations. This should be set to a value that gives you enough breathing room, and remember to include any spreads! Default is 0.2, written in %
Trading hours - This simply gives a session input for the trading hours you want to trade within, and then colours the background green for that session. Trading 24/7 is never a wise strategy, stick to whatever is most optimal for you.
Leverage - Whatever leverage you are using. Default is x20. This will affect the profit / loss calculations accordingly.
Start equity - refers to the equity value you want to backtest with. Some assets will generate NA for this in the backtest label explained later.
Label customisation options.
Note that the backtest label is by default hidden, and appears when you hover over the black label at the current bar. When enabled to visible, it will show a large text label that may cover your chart screen more than you wish.
Alerts -
There are dozens of alert functionalities here; first are the timeframe assignments for each alert, set by default to 2hrs.
These timeframes then affect the asset you select in the corresponding setting.
In total there are 8 additional assets you can set alerts for.
Once you have assigned the timeframe and asset for an alert, you can then check the tick box for that individual alert.
Once done, you set the alert as normal through the tradingview alerts window. Remember to set "alert function calls only"

I have added some functionality for timers to be set, values are in minutes. These work on the exact time of placement. Do not change the extra symbol formula option.

Two Fractals TrendlinesThis study draws a trend line for the last two Bill Williams up-fractals and down-fractals.
Trend line break signals and alerts can optionally be added.
Prometheus Fractal WaveThe Fractal Wave is an indicator that uses a fractal analysis to determine where reversals may happen. This is done through a Fractal process, making sure a price point is in a certain set and then getting a Distance metric.
Calculation:
A bullish Fractal is defined by the current bar’s high being less than the last bar’s high, and the last bar’s high being greater than the second to last bar’s high, and the last bar’s high being greater than the third to last bar’s high.
A bearish Fractal is defined by the current low being greater than the last bar’s low, and the last bar’s low being less than the second to last bar’s low, and the last bar’s low being less than the third to last bar’s low.
When there is that bullish or bearish fractal the value we store is either the last bar’s high or low respective to bullish or bearish fractal.
Once we have that value stored we either subtract the last bar’s low from the bullish Fractal value, and subtract the last bar’s high from the bearish Fractal value. Those are our Distances.

We then plot the bullish distance and the negative bearish distance.
The trade scenarios come from when one breaks the zero line and then goes back above or below. So if the last bullish distance was below 0 and is now above, or if the last negative bearish distance was above 0 and now below. We plot a green label below a candle for a bullish scenario, or a red label above a candle for a bearish one, you can turn them on or off.

We can see in this daily NASDAQ:QQQ chart that the indicator gives us marks that can either be used as Reversal signals or as breathers in the trend.
Since it is designed to provide reversals, on something like Gold where the uptrend has been strong, the signals may be just short breathers, not full blown strong reversal signs.
The indicator works just as well intra day as it does on larger timeframes.

PivotThis library was designed to create three different datasets using Bill Williams fractals. The goal is to spot trends in reversal data and ultimately use these datasets to help predict future price reversals.
First, the pivot() function is used to initialize and populate three separate arrays (high pivot , low pivot , all pivots ). Since each high/low price depends on the bar_index, the bar_index, pivot direction(high/low), and high/low values are compressed into a string to maintain the data's integrity ("__"). Once each string array is populated and organized by bar_index, all three are returned inside a tuple. The return value must be deconstructed H,L,A =pivot() for each array's values to be accessed using getPivot() . This boilerplate allows for data to be accessed more efficiently in a recursive environment. getPivot() was designed to be used inside of a for or while block to populate matrices for further analyses. Again, getPivot() return values must be exposed through deconstruction. x,d,y =getPivot(). See code for more details.
pivot(int XLR) initializes and populates arrays
Parameters
XLR - number of bars to the left and right that must be lower for a high to be considered a pivotHigh, or vice versa. This number will drastically change the size and scope of the returned datasets. smaller values will produce much larger datasets, which might model short term price activity well. In contrast, larger values will produce smaller datasets which might model longer term price activity well.
