Either way, the USD/JPY pair looks like a solid short opportunity.

Haha, the Bank of Japan has done its job and dared to raise the rate by 0.25. The market’s reaction wasn’t strong, but I still think the yen will start to strengthen; we just need to wait a bit. During the press conference, the Bank of Japan’s chairman made it clear that the bank is ready to continue raising the rate if economic data doesn’t change the outlook. I think the uncertainty surrounding Trump’s policies is currently supporting the dollar and putting pressure on the yen, but this is only a temporary setback.
