Phil Sabey is a chemistry graduate from Utah StateUniversity with over three decades of experience in the metals andmining industry, including uranium recovery in Blanding, Utah and fiveyears with Kennecott at their Bingham copper operations. He dedicatedmore than 34 years to Brush Wellman (now Materion Corporation) at itsUtah Operations, where he specialized in the extraction of berylliumfrom both bertrandite and beryl ores. As Manager of Technology andQuality at Materion, Phil oversaw the critical processes andinnovations in beryllium production. He is also a contributing authorto several technical publications related to beryllium processing,global beryllium reserves, and the health implications of berylliumexposure.
