In the movie "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," there is a scene where Bilbo and his companions are climbing a mountain amid a massive storm, as they journey proceeds. However, it doesn't take long for to them realize, that this wasn't an ordinary storm, stone giants were fighting there.
With stones being thrown, over and there, the Hobbit and his fellows, struggle to just no being hit or fall of the mountain. That scene doesn't just describe a chapter of the Tolkien piece but can be observed in our reality.
As Trump fights on multiple fronts and multiple bad economic data emerging, the U.S economy struggles to maintain its growth, which may force the FED towards a third interest rate cut. At the impeachment inquiry front, Trump still brawling with the democratic party, exchanging accusations that only makes the situation more and more uncertain than ever, as Trump and its media apparatus, put pressure on the subject that this inquiry is a coup and obstruction of the investigation of Joe Biden, feeding efforts to discredit the investigation. On the other side, Democrats have set a blistering pace for the inquiry, lining up depositions and sending a committee to Ukraine, rushing into the attack against Trump.
On the Trade war front, Trump threatens to block Chinese companies to be listed in the U.S markets, making harder the round of trade talks of Oct.10 to have fruitful results. Against the Europeans, Trump increased the hostility, after the WTO ruled that the U.S can move ahead with $7.5 billion in tariffs over European goods.
Amid all this chaos, the U.S economy shows signs of weakening and slowing of the growth. Since the pressure in the yields and the fact that U.S. payroll forecasts hit a low, only saw in contexts were the USA by natural disasters and a Government shutdown. This landscape makes us wonder if the economy will have the same lucky as Bilbo and its companions, being able to keep its journey, until its goals.
