I was just trying to find macro-cyclical patterns with respect to the S&P500.
1) The current recession narrative has been floating for a while. Feels like the world "expects it".
2) If 1 becomes true then a 50% correction from ATH seems relatively plausible.
3) This chart is 151 yrs old and the great depression started at the 60th year of the S&P. If we speculate that a "great depression" could be a recurring event happening roughly halfway through every 100 years cycle, then we could suggest the plausibility for an 80%+ drop happening within the next decade.
4) Depression or not, is this the final top of the S&P? If so, this chart seems to be somehow in agreement with Ray Dalio's hypothesis of a "changing world order" with respect to the united states literally stepping down from its position as the world's #1 economic power.
I hope he is wrong, I hate doomer theories. Not financial advice, this is pure speculation driven by curiosity, one guy's hypothesis and some chart patterns.
Curious to hear from some math genius!
