CBOT corn futures inch up after U.S. stocks report

Chicago Board of Trade corn futures ended slightly higher on Friday, despite increases to U.S. stockpile estimates, traders said.

  • Most-active CBOT March corn (CH3) added 1-1/4 cents to settle at $6.44 a bushel.

  • Nearby December corn (CZ2) gained 2-3/4 cents to settle at $6.34-3/4 a bushel.

  • For the week, the CBOT's most-active corn contract ZC1! eased 0.348%.

  • U.S. corn stocks will total 1.257 billion bushels at the end of the 2022/23 marketing year, the U.S. Agriculture Department said in its monthly World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report. The figure is slightly above analyst expectations of 1.237 billion bushels.

  • USDA raised its outlook for exports from war-torn Ukraine to 17.5 million tonnes from 15.5 million.

  • U.S. farmers enrolled 86.896 million acres of corn in crop subsidy programs by December 1, the USDA said in a separate report.
